It is now day 12 since I delivered my twins Jasper Ronald and Jayden John. Jasper weighed 6.8, Jayden weighed 6.12. Jasper was 19 inches long, Jayden was 21 inches long. They were born at 3:49 pm on June 3rd 2011. Both born healthy and well, beautiful sweet little babies.
The days leading up to June 3rd were tiresome and anxiety ridden and VERY slow. Friday could not come soon enough. Dan's parents were both here, which made things really nice for them and for us. On Friday the morning of, I woke up feeling great. Then right before Dan and I left for the hospital, we all said a prayer and I started crying, and Dan crying and Dans' mom crying, it was a very emotional time for us. The whole way there we were in Dan's truck and it was very uncomfortable, I was having strong contractions. Then when we got to the hospital, they hooked me up to the heart monitors and I was still having frequent and strong contractions. It was uncomfortable. Then the Dr. came in and told me they had to bump me back an hour because another lady came in needing an emergency c section. So after waiting another 2 hours past my original time, they finally got me in there. When I entered the operating room it was ice cold. I started shaking and the nice nurse who was with me all day showed me the bassinets where the babies would be placed. Thats when I lost it and started to cry and shake. She had to hug me and tell me everything would be okay. So then I had the spinal, which wasn't too bad, then they put a warm blanket on my chest and before I knew it, there was a million people in there, Dan was at my side again and they started cuttting me open. I couldn't feel pain but the pressure and tugging and pushing felt horrible. It was a terrifying experience. I started to shake and chatter my teeth cause it was so bad. But the babies were out soon enough and both didn't cry for the first two minutes. The only thing I thought of was please stitch me up and get me off of this table. Then the boys started crying weak, cute little cries. Dan had a big smile and told me they are okay. Then they wrapped them up and showed them to me. It was so nice to see them, but still the only thing I could think of was please stitch me up quickly, it was so awful to be awake for such a seriously major surgery. THe doctor told me I was 3 cm dilated. Then it was done and they took me to recovery where I felt much better to be off that scary operating table. I don't remember much about recovery except that I was tired and started itching uncontrollably from the morphine wearing off. They had me in recovery till almost 7 or 8 o clock. It was way too long. By then, everyone was waiting for me in my postpartum room. Everyone including Grandma and Grandpa Brinton had all held the babies. They watched them being bathed and bottle fed through the nursery windows. It was such a nice experience for them. Bless Grandma's heart, she was concerned that i would care that everyone else got to hold them before I did. But I was okay with that, I was just so happy and overjoyed that they were healthy and fine. What a blessing. My recovery was awful. The nurses made me get up and go for a short walk 8 hours later. I made it about 18 steps before I almost fainted and threw up. Everything hurt and ached. So we walked again 6 hours later. And it was much much better. During almost the whole time we were at the hospital Dan fed and changed and took care of Jayden and Jasper. He was so good with them. We stayed up at night with them, Dan would take a baby to me so I could bottle feed him, then he would change them. Everyday from 3 to 5 Grandma and Grandpa would bring the girls to visit. They would fight over who got to hold and feed them. It was fun, but exhausting.
Now that we are home my recovery has been slow it seems. My feet are swollen 24/7 for at least a week, my stiches pain worsens throughout the day, then seems to feel alot better in the mornings. I am not nursing and i think that is part of the reason why I have really enjoyed these babies so much. It is just wonderful not to experience torturous pain every 2 to 3 hours. They tolerate the formula very well and sleep good too. They seem to sleep more through the day and be cranky in the middle of the night. Which is okay, i have been sleeping alot too, so that makes it easier for me to stay up with them. We have had a lot of families in the ward bring us meals, it was soooooo so nice of them, I have a great ward!
The babies have definite personalities. Little Jasper is a touch crankier and harder to burp. Jayden is more laid back, he burps easier and has his cranky moments mostly in the middle of the night. They are both so tiny and sweet and good. Its hard to believe that we could be so blessed. What did we do to deserve such sweet beautiful blessings. One baby is a major blessing, now we have two and I would compare them to little angels. I have such a deep and rich love for them, which started long before I delivered them. They are everything I had hoped for but more. I love how they are so teensy tiny and make the cutest little grunts and noises. I love how their little cries are hardly even loud. I love how they look exactly alike and have the exact same bodies, even their ears are not curved right at the top. Before we left the hospital Dan's mom started to cry and told me very sincerely, You deserve it. I wonder if and how I deserve such a massive blessing in my life, but I am so very thankful. I am also thankful dans mom is here to offer us advice, help with the babies, clean my house and take care of the older girls. THe older girls really really love the babies. They are constantly bickering and arguing over feeding and holding. You would think with two babies there is enough to go around ,but apparently we needed triplets. They just love them to pieces, you can tell, they bring an absolute joy into our home. I cannot imagine our life without them, there is no place on earth I'd rather be then right here in my home with my family enjoying this precious time. I am so very very thankful to my Heavenly Father for sending the comforter to me constantly and for sending me these precious blessings. There is nothing sweeter. We feel so richly richly blessed.

What a beautiful post, it also brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't help but think of my experience of having my triplets. It sounded a lot the same and I remember the recovery being horrible. What a blessing to have family there with you. They are the cutest little boys ever. Congrats and I hope you start feelin better.
