Extreme Home Winter

Everyone knows how much I love the desert and Arizona, that is no secret. The strange thing is my sister and her family love their home in the mountains of Canada every bit as much. She is someone I really admire. They live frugally, economically and environmentally friendly. Cloth diapers, wood stove, chickens that lay eggs, the whole works. These pictures were taken today. Their power is unreliable so they sometimes cook their food in open fire. The grocery stores in the nearest town are running out of food because the mountain passes are too dangerous to go through. They battle possible avalanches in the winter, mud and land slides in the spring, and forest fires in the summer. I got to hand it to them, they are a good example of tough Canadians built to withstand the rigors and extreme elements of the north. And if you ask them if they like living there, they would tell you they wouldn't trade it for any other place on earth. Dan and I copped out and became early winter birds hightailing it south, we admit it- and don't regret it.!

Sweetheart Tag

My cousin tagged me a couple weeks ago, so I finally got around to it.

Each person answers questions about their sweethearts. At the end of the post, the person then tags 6 people and posts their names; then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged.

What is your husbands name? Dan

How old is he? 32 I think

Who is taller? Dan, we're both tall, I think he is 6 ft and I am 5'8.

Who can sing best? I would say I can and he would say he can.

Who is smarter? Dan thinks men in general are smarter than women. But we women are smart and just let our husbands think they are smarter than us.

Who does laundry? Me, whenever we need to initiate the "smell test". just kidding

Who pays the bills? Me, after our first six months of marriage when I learned what a "collection agency" was.

Who mows the lawn? What lawn

Who cooks dinner? He brings home the bacon, so I stay home and fry it up.

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? What if I'm never wrong? :)

How long did you date? A very long year. I was too young to get married.

Who kissed who first? It was mutual. And it was good..... and you don't want to know anymore.

Who wears the pants? I think Dan wears the pants unless I bat my eyes and.... unless it comes to shopping..............

P90-X

Well this is my latest new years resolution/goal/crazy scheme/ nonsense. Whatever, I don't know why I feel a need to talk about this. Maybe because every muscle in my body including the ones I didn't know I had are screaming in terror and pain! AAAAAAAAH! Talk about a workout. I have been getting together with a couple of good friends in the ward every morning and we've been kicking some serious butt with this crazy workout. Now I've climbed some mountains and done some hiking and running and other rinky dinky piece of cake stuff. This is nothing like I've ever done before. Maybe I'm a serious wimp but this program is insane. The funny thing is, its slightly addictive, it leaves you wanting more. Well, ask me next month if I'm still doing it>.................................... :) I would put a before and after picture on but maybe we'll hold off on that until Cancun in March. Right Dan??! Besides, I wouldn't want to blind anyone right now with my flourescent white skin. Dan is going to start doing this as well. He sure is.

Winter?....... or summer?

Dec. 30 Today was so hot, we
couldn't remember if it was summer
or winter-
so we went swimming-
and hiking (with our friends, Russ
and Liz from Canada. The friendly
man at the Y let us all in for free,
maybe because we were a bunch of
happy zealous Canadians, who knows. The kids loved it, we had the place practically to ourselves
except for the 2 old men in speedos who happened to do a 45
minute stretch routine in front of our very eyes. Oh well, anything goes at the Y.

Elena and Liam had a blast playing together
this week. She will miss him!

North Mountain reserve park near
Scottsdale is really beautiful. The hiking was
great for kids with nicely paved
paths. Dan made us wear our Peru shirts from his mom. (She just went there.) There was a brown family that was smiling at us real big so maybe they were from Peru, who knows. My shirt said (in Espanol)- someone who loves you very much bought you this shirt in Peru! Ha ha, the kids loved them. Thanks mom.
Thanks for visiting us and showing us a great time Russ and Liz. You guys are great, we will miss you!
